good choice

I just received my birthday gift through the post from my parents. While I should be disgruntled at the 6 day tardiness, I wasn't because the present was so good.

For my birthday my mum bought me socks. Not just 1 pair of socks however, nor 2, nor 5. The final tally was 21.

This means that I can do what I have been dreaming about for years - throw away all of my old socks and never worry about pairing them again! It is slightly disappointing that it took her this long though - to really save me the effort she should have done it before I got married. Pairing socks comes for free now.

domain simplicity

Since I'm a big boy now (or at least in my mother's eyes), I decided to register my first ever domain today. To my surprise, the process was completely and utterly painless.

  1. visit switch.ch, enter preferred domain
  2. enter credit card details and address
  3. visit zoneedit.com and enter details for purchased domain
  4. set up web and mail forwarding
  5. enter nameservers for my domain back at switch.ch
  6. wait for the tld zone file trickery to auto-magically happen (FAQ said 8pm, seemed ok to me)

I am now the proud owner of cynic.ch!

Currently my email isn't forwarding correctly, but I have a feeling that it is a problem solved by time alone. If james@ isn't working in the morning I will moan in the usual fashion and complain that it professed to be simple but was actually a pain.

Thanks for your help rahel!

tips on life

Here's a little tip on life for everyone.

Every day do something for someone that you love just because you love them.

It's a very simple rule to remember and it's wonderful for both parties; it makes you feel good and it makes other people feel cared for. Do it every day regardless of how unhappy you are or how angry you are with the person in question, be it your wife, husband, girlfriend, sister, parent or whoever. In fact, do it especially when you're unhappy or upset, it makes it more profound.

The actual thing that you do can be anything - here's some ideas: Wash up, hoover, walk the dog, dust the picture frames, make the bed, change the sheets, make dinner, buy flowers, make a cup of tea, cuddle your wife / girlfriend, let your husband / boyfriend play video games, watch a rom-com, call your sibling, write a letter. The things you can do are never ending but it's so easy to do nothing. Don't do nothing, do something.

Show people your love - it's life changing.

gtm

I saw this the other day and couldn't help but chuckle at the mario / gta crossover. I am trying to resist blogging purely game related posts - honest!

digital distro

Microsoft will begin offering downloadable HD movies later this month. At launch time- rumored to be around Nov. 22-over 1100 hours of video will be available to rent or purchase through an XBOX 360 connected to XBOX Live.

At last - someone gets it! All the consumer has to do now is wait until it's launched to see how badly they've f* it up.

best pacman joke..

..ever?

In my morning read I came across this little image entitled "the best pacman joke ever". While I wasn't rolling on the floor, it's quite amusing and also quite original so I thought I'd post it. Enjoy.
